Our Team
We manage the IBM Mainframe and Mid-Range estate for the bank which includes the performance of the hardware, upkeep of Operating Systems and maintenance of 3rd Party software. This management also encompasses CICS & MQ for connectivity and transactional processing for the related Applications, Treasury, Asset Management, and our Batch.
We're on the hunt for a CICS Sysprog to join our Technology Operations Core team. If you like a fast-paced role that will challenge you, then please read on!

What you ll be doing

Configuration, installation, integration and maintenance of our CICS environments.
Plan and execute technical and procedural improvements to the CICS and where relevant associated applications.
You will provide 2nd /3rd Line Support, offering support, guidance and a technical escalation point to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Where necessary take ownership of technical issues, ensuring the correct parties are involved to formulate and deliver a resolution.
Manage your own workload to meet the changing requirements of both production support and project delivery.
Provision of 24x7 on-call support for live service as well as project implementation.
Maintain documentation in terms of process and look for ways to improve/automate current processes.
Representing your team at key forums such as Security and Service Design Clinic (SSDC), Change Advisory Board (CAB), Major Change Board (MCAB) and may be required to attend or support on occasion at Technical Design Authority (TDA).


We need you to have

A deep expertise and enduring curiosity in the operation of IBM CICS on z/OS.
A sound understanding of the principles of resilience, operability and security, and how they relate to CICS.
A desire to explore and implement new technologies that transform our ways of working.
Communication and influencing skills to be able to effectively communicate complex requirements to colleagues with varying levels of technical knowledge and ensure requirements are delivered.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
A working knowledge of z/OS, VSAM, Omegamon and CICS Explorer

It s a bonus if you have but not essential

A good working knowledge of Core Banking Platforms and experience working in Financial Services environment
Recent experience of core modernisation and managing digital demands, as well as previous application development experience in CICS.
Experience and skills in other mainframe technologies, such as Cobol, z/OS SMP/E, Innovation Access Method, SYSB-II, cProf and Dynatrace.
