Senior EIA / Consenting Consultant Location: Edinburgh Position: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 Benefits: 33 days annual leave, relaxed hybrid working model, bonus scheme, enhanced maternity leave, clear and defined professional development. Our client, a highly respected environmental consultancy, is seeking a Senior EIA / Consenting Consultant to join their Edinburgh office on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a high-impact role suited to someone with strong consultancy experience, capable of leading projects and engaging with stakeholders at a senior level. You'll play a key role in the development and delivery of onshore wind farm and solar infrastructure projects across the UK. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the delivery of complex Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and consenting strategies for major onshore renewable energy developments, including wind farms and solar projects. Provide strategic input into planning and development processes, advising clients on risk, mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Act as a key client liaison, developing and maintaining long-term relationships with developers, regulators, and project partners. Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to internal knowledge sharing and development. Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resourcing, ensuring work is delivered to the highest standard. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across technical disciplines and business units. Represent the consultancy at public consultations, hearings, and industry forums as needed. Ideal Candidate: Substantial experience within an environmental consultancy, with a strong focus on EIA and consenting for onshore wind and/or solar energy projects. Deep understanding of UK environmental planning policy, legislation, and consenting frameworks. Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with experience overseeing complex, high-value projects. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders. A relevant degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Geography, or a related discipline. Chartered or working toward chartership (e.g. CEnv, RTPI, IEMA) is highly desirable.
