Senior Conduct Counsel Milton Keynes Hybrid working; 2 days in the office and 3 days from home. Permanent Full Time 35 hours Up to £84, 000pa depending on experience. Join our team as Senior Conduct Counsel ICAEW is looking for an experienced Solicitor Advocate or Barrister, with 8+ PQE, to join an established legal team in the Professional Standards Department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking and dynamic legal team, whilst maintaining a work life balance. Due to an increase in workloads, we are looking for someone with proven advocacy experience, and an aptitude for applying legal principles in the delivery of accurate and clear advice. In return you would be working for a leading and international Accountancy Regulator on varied and exciting work. Overall purpose of this role of Senior Conduct Counsel. To provide responsive and constructive legal support to the Professional Standards Department, particularly the Conduct Department, to ensure sound and consistent handling of all disciplinary and regulatory casework which enhances the public's confidence in ICAEW and its members, member firms and regulated individuals and firms. Senior Conduct Counsel Responsibilities include: To provide legal advice and support to Investigation Officers/Regulatory Case Managers on complaints and regulatory casework at all stages of the process. To prepare, prosecute and present cases to the Professional Standards Department Disciplinary and Regulatory Committees on behalf of ICAEW. To take personal responsibility at various stages for the management and timely progress of cases Provide ad hoc advice, assistance and support across the Professional Standards Department. Manage own volume of casework to ensure timeliness of handling, reviewing and reporting, ensuring that all advice is both accurate and professional. Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs Senior Conduct Counsel Candidate Profile Requirements include: Essential A qualified solicitor or barrister. Experienced advocate within adversarial proceedings. Ability to manage and prioritise a caseload. Be a good team player with the ability to work in an agile and collaborative way. Knowledge of the ICAEW's Byelaws, Regulations and Ethical Code together with an understanding of the work of the Disciplinary and Regulatory committees An ability to research and develop knowledge when new legal issues arise. Desirable Experience working for a regulatory body; experience within an accountancy or financial regulatory body advantageous.
