Who are CloudNC? CloudNC's mission is to make single-click manufacturing a reality. We build software that automates control of CNC machines - metalcutting robots that make 1Trn of components every year, for anything from aircraft to iPhones to cars. Worldwide over 100 million hours are spent painstakingly programming these incredible machines by hand every year, and we believe this is a colossal waste of human time and talent in an industry already facing an existential skills crisis. Our software, CAM Assist, brings one-click automation to CNC machining. Our world-class team, with tier 1 financial backers including Atomico, Autodesk and Lockheed Martin, combines expertise in computer science and physical manufacturing, from our locations in London and Chelmsford. We are scaling from Series B to C at pace and are fully funded for this growth. About the Role: CloudNC is looking for an experienced and motivated CAM Programmer / Production Engineer to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality CAM programs and fixturing, tooling, and documentation required for the efficient manufacturing of complex components. Your focus will be on developing innovative processes and technologies, ensuring high machine utilisation, and delivering Right First-Time programs and parts under tight deadlines. You will work closely with the Lead PE and Engineering Manager to meet production targets, reduce lead times, and control costs, all while maintaining exceptional quality and accuracy. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement CNC programs using CAM software, ensuring effective machine utilisation and production of parts to exact specifications, while minimising external spending. Prioritise workloads to ensure that all machines are running efficiently and on time. Work in collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Production to resolve manufacturing issues, suggesting improvements to reduce cost and lead times. Prove out programs to production status, addressing any post-processor issues and planning manufacturing methods to streamline operations. Maintain accurate records and reports on any deviations from specifications, offering solutions before programs are posted to machines. Work at pace under pressure to meet tight deadlines while ensuring the quality of work is not compromised. Collaborate with shift personnel and other departments to ensure smooth shift transitions and maintain operational efficiency. Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their training and development. Ensure that tooling, fixtures, and consumables are ordered and available for the manufacturing process. Suggest potential design changes to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs. Key Skills and Experience: Essential: Extensive experience programming multi-axis CNC machines, particularly 5-axis, in a high-pressure, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proven hands-on experience with Heidenhain or Siemens NC Code and Controls, including programming, machining first-off products, and managing the full end-to-end manufacturing process. Strong expertise in using Veri-cut simulation software. Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and work with tight tolerance specifications. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, whilst maintaining a high level of independence. Ability to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Engineering qualifications such as HNC/HND, or equivalent experience. Highly Desirable: Background of programming using Hypermill for 5-axis machining Desirable: Experience with internal factory operating software systems. Knowledge of composite, metallic, and pattern materials. Ability to estimate machine setup, run times, and job-specific tooling costs for project quotes. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior staff members. Lean Six Sigma experience Behaviours: Agile and adaptable, able to respond to changes quickly. Collaborative, working well within team environments. Commitment to continuous improvement, always looking for ways to enhance processes. Attention to detail and strong quality control focus. Ability to take action under pressure, maintaining high productivity without compromising quality. What we can offer you: Stock Options Annual Performance Equity Award 4 Day working week - Monday-Thursday 27 days Annual Leave (Inclusive of bank holidays) Leading private medical insurance provided by WPA Life Insurance Enhanced primary, secondary and adoption parental pay & leave (maternity/paternity) Equal Opportunities Statement We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, valuing individuality and embracing all people. The success of CloudNC is a result of diversity of thought. We recognise this comes from people truly belonging. We encourage different perspectives and skills to collaborate towards our mission - disrupting the manufacturing industry. We celebrate diversity and continually improve our inclusivity efforts.
