Description\n\nThe purpose of this role is to provide pro-active supporting function to the senior level engineering staff. To manage projects, Senior Engineers, Graduates and Technicians during the day to day running of projects, including being aware of the financial aspects/ targets of assigned projects while being a main point of contact for the client and project consultants and technical lead for the design team. This is an opportunity to work on a variety of in a variety of sectors.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPrepare fee proposals for senior management approval, including resources and programme.\n\nManage projects from inception through to completion.\n\nResponsible in leading the quality and the timely delivery of multiple projects running concurrently, including the preparation of the Design Scope of work as well as the technical designs of projects.\n\nManage the workload and oversee technical and commercial management of a small team.\n\nDevelop detailed methodologies, delegating preparation of tasks as appropriate.\n\nAssess resource requirements at each stage of the project.\n\nDeliver projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.\n\nDetermine the need for and attend project progress meetings.\n\nOversee the response to design queries during construction phase and attend site meetings.\n\nCommunicate project's critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and clients.\n\nSet up projects and allocate budgets to work stages.\n\nEnsure financial data is up to date and co-ordinate the timely and correct issuing of invoices.\n\nAssist in the preparation of monthly project workload and fee forecasts.\n\nActively manage projects to minimise WIP.\n\nMentor junior engineers and graduates.\n\nEnsure that all project related documentation is kept in compliance to the Business Management systems, processes, and procedures.\n\nAnticipate challenges and project risks and recommend necessary mitigating measures, and where necessary relay to clients.\n\nTake an active role in the development of the Structural engineering group with a view to expanding its client base\n\nExternal levels and drainage design\n\nDeliver projects to quality and financial requirements\n\nUndertake project management duties\n\nPrepare and manage delivery of technical reports\n\nRequirements\n\nIncorporated or Chartered Civil Engineer or nearing chartership.\n\nExperience of development residential, commercial, leisure, mixed-use, industrial and infrastructure, etc.\n\nDemonstrated experience in structural engineering design and construction.\n\nGood all-round technical design expertise using British, European and international standards, codes and best practice.\n\nExperience in the management of preparation of drawing and project deliverables.\n\nGood understanding of structural engineering theory and strong analytical skills, with proven problem-solving ability.\n\nGood verbal and written communication skills\n\nExperience of preparing detailed reports\n\nExcellent communication skills coupled with attention to detail.\n\nAbility to lead design aspects of projects including managing quality, budget, programme and resources\n\nAbility to lead a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members.\n\nAbility to liaise with stakeholders
