Principal Engineer for 3D Perception

London, UK (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite weekly)

IC Resources is seeking a Principal Engineer with key strengths in 3D perception to join our client's innovative team in London, UK. The successful candidate will lead the development of advanced 3D perception technologies and take ownership of architectural design, implementation and optimisation of perception systems on edge computing hardware.

Our client is a growing multi-national start-up, led by veterans of the 3D sensing industry, enabling customers to deploy 3D perception capabilities within the intelligent transport systems space.

Responsibilities:

• Tech leadership and responsibility for a small team of 2-3 less engineers
• Lead the design and implementation of complex 3D perception systems that detect, classify and track objects in 3D point cloud data on edge computing hardware
• Lead the design of a scalable, multi-sensor, tracking and fusion solution, and help advance the sensor simulation technology

Required Experience:

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics or similar.
• Background in perception for cameras, LiDAR, radar or depth-sensing technologies.
• 5+ years’ relevant industry experience in computer vision, deep learning for robotics, automotive applications or similar
• Hands-on experience with OpenCV, PCL or other 2D/3D vision libraries.
• Experience in the design and implementation of production-ready software and algorithms in C++, Python

Desired Experience:

• Experience with QNX, Embedded Linux, or ROS.
• Knowledge of major deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• Experience deploying ML models on edge devices (e.g., Nvidia Jetson, ARM SoCs).
• Understanding of model optimisation and interchange formats (e.g., ONNX, OpenVINO).
• Exposure to ML model training, tuning, and real-time inference.
