An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Press and Public Relations Officer to join a well-established charity. This is a full-time, permanent role within the Communications team, responsible for delivering high-quality media and public relations services and supporting the charity's wider objectives. Key responsibilities of the role: Develop and execute proactive public relations strategies in line with the charity s priorities Create and distribute press releases, statements, and articles to enhance the charity s profile Respond quickly and sensitively to media inquiries, ensuring consistent messaging across channels Collaborate with internal teams to identify stories that showcase the charity s work and impact Provide strategic communications advice and media briefings to senior leadership Write and edit content for internal and external audiences, including newsletters and member communications Manage relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and opinion leaders to maximise media exposure Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on the impact of media activity Support social media strategy development and ensure alignment with overall communications efforts Assist in crisis communications and media handling during sensitive situations Participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours media rota, including weekends and public holidays, alongside other team members Ideal candidate profile: Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or public relations, ideally in the charity or health sector Experience in running proactive public relations campaigns and managing crisis communications Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio of published work Ability to engage confidently with journalists and senior stakeholders Strong news sense and the ability to identify and pitch proactive media stories Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing demands under tight deadlines Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to implement campaigns from concept to delivery Familiarity with social media management and website content integration A resilient and calm approach to crisis management A strong team player with excellent attention to detail Location : Central London Salary : £36,000-£40,000 Working hours : Full-time Working pattern : Hybrid Contract : Permanent This vacancy is being actively shortlisted, so early applications are encouraged.
