This role involves ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining payroll records. The Payroll Supervisor will lead a team of payroll staff, provide training and support, and serve as a liaison between HR, finance, and employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. Our values ask for a deeper level of commitment, and what is asked of us we freely give because we believe in our mission. /li /ul p /p p b i Required /i Qualifications: /b /p ul li Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. /li li Minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience or any other accounting or bookkeeping experience. /li li Intermediate to advanced PC skills /li li Basic accounting principles, payroll processing, tax withholding /li li Positive and proactive communication skills /li li Knowledge of automated timekeeping systems /li li Strong problem-solving and customer service skills /li li Knowledge about US federal, state, and local payroll tax laws /li li Ability to maintain full confidentiality and comply with non-disclosure requirements due to the nature of the job /li /ul p /p p b i Preferred /i Qualifications: /b /p ul li Experience with Kronos timekeeping system /li li Experience with Workday payroll system /li /ul p /p p b Duties and Responsibilities: /b /p ul li Processes payroll per schedule, including wage and overtime payments, calculations, and recording of payroll deductions and requests for off-cycle paychecks. /li li Verifies timekeeping records and reviews payroll before finalizing to ensure accuracy. Prepares and transmits direct deposits. /li li Reconciles payroll bank account and processes returned checks and/or direct deposits. /li li Maintain confidentiality of all information handled /li li Calculate and process final pay-outs to terminated employees /li li Generates and verifies payroll reports out of the payroll system. /li li Prepares and reviews periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions. File amendments and annual summaries and perform all related tasks. Reconciles quarter-end and year-end reports. Verifies and reconciles W2s before issuance. /li li Sets up garnishments and levies and performs necessary communications for garnishment-related matters. /li li Answer or refer payroll-related inquiries from caregivers /li li Provide and prepare necessary training and training materials for caregivers and leaders to utilize for payroll-related purposes. Documents and updates written payroll procedures. Maintains payroll documentation and files. /li li Completes applications in multiple states in order to set up state tax IDs and ensures proper setup and accurate state tax filings. Maintain registrations. Provide training to other departments if necessary /li li Provide training and directions to Payroll staff. Review and assign work to the Payroll staff. /li li Develops payroll checklists and assigned duties and responsibilities to the payroll staff. /li li Maintains direct deposit documentation, pre-note processes, and system data. /li li Provide project assistance to other departments as needed. /li li Establish and foster full partnerships with internal customers /li li Prepare detailed payroll reports and special reports for management /li li Provide back-up to other department positions based on workload and absences /li li Respond to technical payroll questions, explain policies/procedures, and resolve issues /li li Processes year-end production of W-2 forms, responsible for the entire process, accuracy, and all necessary reporting and amendments. /li li Perform a variety of functions related to payroll processes, including data entry, record-keeping, auditing, and reporting /li li Process payroll adjustments (e.g., calculating, verifying, and preparing retroactive pay adjustments, overtime adjustments, and employee terminations.) /li li Review and prepare answers to inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service, the State of New Mexico, and other regulatory agencies /li li Prepare and file tax reports and make payments of taxes in a timely and accurate manner to comply with payroll laws and minimize penalty/risk exposure for the organization /li li Serves as a superuser for the Workday Payroll module. Performers are earning code development, settings, and audits. /li li Ensures full compliance with related benefits plans and taxations. /li li Participates in policy development and improvement. /li li Supervise, hire, train, evaluate, and discipline payroll staff as part of regular management responsibilities /li li Other duties as assigned /li li Each caregiver is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work: b Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship /b /li /ul p /p p b Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions: /b /p ul li Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. /li li Occasional ladder climbing for archive purposes /li li Lifting boxes up to ten (10) pounds /li /ul
