Salary: From £36,500 About Us The Dormant Distillery Company operates one of the world s leading whisky specialist retailers and wholesalers, Royal Mile Whiskies. Founded in 1998, the company also runs a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile The Cigar Box and, in 2011, opened two specialist drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry under the Drinkmonger brand, with the vision of providing Scotland s most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products. Alongside its online business through www.royalmilewhiskies.com and www.drinkmonger.com, the company has developed a thriving wholesale business, supplying the on-trade across Scotland and beyond. The Role The Marketing Manager will report directly to the Head of Marketing and work closely with Profit Centre Heads across the business s key areas: Online, Trade, Retail and Events. This role will lead the marketing function, ensuring the effective execution of strategic marketing initiatives that drive brand growth, sales and customer engagement. The Marketing Manager will line manage members of the Marketing team, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, engaging content, creative assets and commercially impactful campaigns across digital and traditional marketing channels. Person Specification We are looking for a results-driven Marketing Manager who can balance high-level planning with hands-on execution. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity and data-driven decision-making to drive brand growth and customer engagement across Online, Trade, Retail and Events. You will have a proven track record managing multi-channel campaigns and delivering measurable commercial success. With an ability to think both creatively and analytically, you will ensure all marketing efforts align with our brands, business objectives and deliver measurable results. A keen interest in the drinks industry is highly desirable along with a demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and staying ahead of industry trends. You will thrive in a collaborative environment, managing multiple projects and stakeholders. Fully integrated marketing experience is essential. Main Duties and Responsibilities Manage and develop marketing projects and tasks across Online, Trade, Retail and Events, ensuring they are commercially driven, aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable results. Manage, develop and support the marketing team, ensuring they have the necessary tools, guidance and resources to deliver on key marketing initiatives. Work closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT), Profit Centre and Department Heads to drive marketing efforts that align commercial objectives across Online, Trade, Retail and Events. Support in budget setting, monitoring and ensuring resources are allocated effectively. Support the Heads of Marketing in key tasks and deputise as required. Act as the marketing lead within SMT meetings, providing insights and recommendations to drive business growth. Oversee the creation of high-quality creative assets and content that ensure brand consistency, drive engagement and support performance-focused marketing campaigns with measurable impact. Support in the development, creation and dissemination of internal communications Manage internal staff, external contractors or consultants and other collaborators in delivering on projects. Work with and develop systems for facilitating marketing and comms processes across the business. Develop and manage marketing KPIs, ensuring regular reporting and analysis of campaign performance, customer insights and sales data. Any other marketing and communications activities or duties that may arise. Experience/Technical Essential 3+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on strategic planning, campaign execution and digital and/or retail marketing. Delivering on high-level organisational objectives as well as campaign-level objectives. Experience in planning and executing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels that are commercially impactful. Strong copywriting skills, with experience creating content for social media, websites, email, articles, and more Experience in e-commerce marketing, including expertise of digital marketing activities, or managing an agency to support on: PPC, email marketing and social media advertising with a focus on growth, engagement, conversion and ROI. Strong understanding of creative processes, with experience briefing and collaborating with designers or creative teams to develop high-quality visual assets. Using marketing insight, data analytics and ongoing monitoring/feedback to deliver customer-centric content campaigns Experience working with various digital advertising platforms and analytics tools e.g. Google Marketing Platform, Data/Looker Studio, Meta Business Suite, Klaviyo, CRO/Testing tools, BI/Data Visualisation Tools etc. Project management skills - experience working with project management/collaborations tools e.g. Slack, Asana etc. Working with a team and external agencies to deliver on strategic marketing goals. Desirable Experience delivering Marketing and Communications activities in the drinks industry with a strong enthusiasm for the category. Experience in retail, trade and/or events marketing such as creating and managing marketing campaigns/materials that effectively support B2B sales, in-store promotions and brand events. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or similar design tools to support creative development and provide feedback on visual assets. Experience in public relations and brand partnerships to enhance brand visibility Building and nurturing brand partnerships Knowledge of SEO strategy, conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and experimentation. Knowledge Essential Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with great attention to detail. Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to measure marketing performance and optimise accordingly. Strong project organisation skills Desirable Knowledge in the wine/spirts industry Training and Qualifications Essential Relevant degree, qualification or education or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in digital and/or retail marketing and campaign management Desirable WSET Level 2 Qualification (or higher) and/or clearly relevant and equivalent experience/knowledge in the wine/spirts industry Additional Info, Salary and Benefits This is a permanent, full-time post. We are offering a starting salary of £36,500. Our office hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Some additional evening and weekend work may be required to meet ad hoc events and deadlines.
