About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our fast-paced food manufacturing facility. As part of the engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving production line efficiency through effective fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond quickly to breakdowns on production machinery.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to reduce downtime.
Ensure machinery and systems are compliant with food safety and hygiene standards.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Accurately document all maintenance activities using CMMS systems.
Work closely with production and hygiene teams to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
Time-served engineer with a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, City & Guilds in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
Strong experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, ideally within the food or FMCG sector.
Working knowledge of PLCs (fault finding, not necessarily programming).
Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Flexible approach to shift work, including weekends and call-outs if needed.
Desirable:
Experience with packaging machinery, conveyors, and automated production lines.
17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
