This position is part of the Vehicle Futures Hub (VFH), aiming to establish strong connections with The Grantham Institute and its collaborators to promote clean technology. After three years, the postholder will transfer to the Department of Mechanical Engineering to continue their academic career. The role supports research aligned with transitioning to a sustainable, zero-pollution economy. The VFH adopts a systems engineering approach to transport challenges, fostering new programs, generating grant income, and advancing research on climate change and environmental technologies, supporting Imperial College s strategic themes for a sustainable society. The candidate should have an interest in policy and societal engagement related to environmental science and will teach undergraduate and Masters courses, including a college-wide climate change module. This position is suitable for applicants aiming to grow expertise in existing future vehicle technologies or establish new research areas. Deliver a program related to future vehicle technology during the first three years, bridging engineering and climate science, and informing decision-making in business and policy. Advance research and collaborations in climate and environmental change, contributing to teaching and training programs. Represent the VFH and Grantham Institute at conferences and forums, enhancing their reputation and contributing to VFH planning. Participate in administrative roles within the Institute and Department as needed. Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree in a relevant engineering subject focused on future vehicle technology, with a reputation in the field (national and international for Senior Lecturer).
