Our client is seeking an Intermediate Fire Engineer to lead key aspects of a dynamic, growing team within an innovative specialist division, part of a multi-disciplinary professional services firm serving the public housing sector. If you have at least five years post-qualification experience, this could be the thrilling opportunity you've been waiting for. This hybrid role offers a mix of on-site and in-house responsibilities, where you'll be pivotal in delivering thorough Fire Risk Assessments, including visual and fully intrusive inspections. Equally important is your ability to engage confidently with clients, such as Local Authorities and Housing Associations, providing expert advice on fire safety compliance and regulatory standards. Duties Work with and lead aspects of a growing team, reporting directly to the Senior Fire Engineer. General Comply with, or improve upon, Airey Miller s Key Performance Indicators. Working with and developing a Quality Management System. Report on a regular basis on status of projects and update Fee Projections. Assist the Director in Charge with Business Development, cultivating new and existing Clients to promote our Building Surveying service offering. Experience Ideally 5-10 years minimum External Wall Risk Assessments Type 1-4 Fire Risk Assessments Compartmentation Surveys Large and small refurbishment and re-cladding projects Fire Protection Work Qualifications MIFire E MIFSM C Build E MCABE CEng Primary Skills Fire Safety Fire Protection Cladding Fire Performance Fire Risk Assessment Legislation Public Safety Refurbishments Risk Assessment Safety Compliance Health and Safety Skills, Knowledge, Understanding and Learning Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders. Undertake Risk Assessments in line with current legislation. Advise clients of pragmatic, cost effective solutions to mitigate risk where possible. Assist in the growth, development and structure of a small team, drawing upon team leadership skills and experience. Fire Risk Assessment Assist the client in RAG assessing their stock to understand their potential liabilities. Review information relating to fire safety that the client has accrued for their buildings to date and advise them of its suitability. Assist in conducting Fire Risk Assessments both internally and externally in line with current industry guidance and compile a detailed report. Work with the project team to produce cost-effective, pragmatic remedial solutions where possible. Remedial Works Work with the project team to compile the ER s. Peer review the contractors' proposals. Liaise closely with the clerk of works and the contractor and carry out compliance checks of the works as they progress. Attend site progress meetings when required.
