Our client is a privately owned engineering and environmental services business operating throughout the UK. The business is fast growth and has rapidly grown to 50+ people with further ambitious plans to double in size to £10m turnover within the next 2-3 years. The business has an excellent reputation within the industry which needs to be maintained, while navigating new challenges that come from rapid expansion. Due to these growth plans the business is now looking to recruit a highly strategic yet hands-on Finance Director who will work closely with the leadership team to create, implement and deliver the necessary infrastructure to support the company s vision. FINANCE DIRECTOR THE ROLE The Finance Director will work very closely with the leadership team in shaping the financial and business strategy to meet company objectives. This position requires a strategic thinker who can provide leadership and direction to the finance function and wider business, while also being able to roll up their sleeves and manage day-to-day operations where needed. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, and operational performance, along with the ability to implement financial systems and processes that support the company s expansion. Main Purposes: Partner with the Managing Director and executive team to develop and execute the financial strategy and roadmap to double the size of the business within the next 2-3 years. To protect the assets of the business, ensuring compliance with financial and tax regulations. Maintaining proper accounting, preparation and filing of periodic, annual returns and statutory accounts. Identify and communicate value risk and mitigation strategies to the leadership team. Operate and manage an efficient and effective finance function providing services to the business including transaction processing, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and tax. Influence and develop the future direction of the company. Provide financial leadership and aligning business and finance strategy towards fulfilment of business ambitions. Lead on financing and other long-term investments of the company. Stimulate and drive the timely execution of change in the finance function and wider business. Selectively drive business improvement initiatives and innovations that add value to the company. KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE A qualified accountant, with at least 10+ years post qualification experience. Proven experience as a Finance Director, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role within a fast-growth business. Strong track record in driving financial strategy and operational growth in a dynamic environment. Experience managing finance functions and leading through periods of significant change. Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and tax matters. Strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture while managing day-to-day financial operations. Ability to ensure the finance function is fully integrated into the operational functions of the business. Fully conversant in financial reporting. Proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and MS Excel. Proven track record in managing challenging and complex situations. Ability to consider and consolidate and show flexibility Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a hands-on approach to driving results. Exceptional financial analysis and modelling skills, with a deep understanding of cash flow management.
