Job Title: Financial Controller Location: Glasgow (Hybrid 3 days in office / 2 days from home) Salary: Up to £50,000 + Benefits About the Company Our client is a dynamic and fast-growing commercial insurance brokerage based in Glasgow, serving a diverse client base across the UK. The Opportunity The business is seeking a Financial Controller to lead its finance function. This key role offers the opportunity to partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, supporting continued business growth, financial governance, and strategic planning. You ll take full responsibility for financial operations, management reporting, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility while also playing a central role in the Glasgow-based leadership team. Key Responsibilities - Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports. - Maintain and analyse control accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. - Produce monthly Board Pack with financial commentary and insight. - Develop, implement, and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. - Identify cost efficiencies and opportunities for process improvement. - Manage Xero accounting system and oversee accounts payable. - Operate the PLEO expense system and approve employee expense claims. - Review monthly outsourced payroll outputs. - Lead credit control and client debt collection efforts with performance bonus available for hitting KPIs. - Ensure compliance with FCA financial processes and reporting obligations. - Liaise with HMRC and external agencies as required. - Maintain statutory filings and company secretarial duties. - Supervise the production of renewal lists and commission/fee reports. - Manage the Premium Credit facility. - Ensure the Peninsula HR and company IT systems are functioning effectively, supported by third-party partners. - Maintain communication with investors and key external stakeholders. What We're Looking For - Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). - Proven experience in a senior finance position, preferably within financial services or insurance. - Commercially minded with a strong grasp of financial controls and growth strategy. - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with senior stakeholders. - Strong systems knowledge and proficiency in Excel and cloud-based accounting tools. - Ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
