Engineering Manager Location: Preston (hybrid - 2 days a week on-site) Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 depending on experience, + bonus Are you an experienced Engineering Manager looking for your next challenge? As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading teams in the delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring best practices and governance are upheld. You will work in a highly regulated environment, contributing to some of the most advanced and innovative engineering projects in the industry. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage engineering teams to deliver complex solutions. Collaborate with multiple business functions including engineering, project management, and human resources. Ensure high standards of engineering governance and best practices. Provide technical and leadership support to engineers, helping them develop solutions throughout the product development cycle. Communicate effectively with senior management and key stakeholders. Who We Are Looking For We are open to candidates from various engineering backgrounds, provided they have experience in a highly regulated industry such as defence, nuclear, automotive, or rail. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Bid Management Leading technical proposals, cost estimation, and project planning System Design & Architecture Defining system requirements, integration, and verification System Realisation Taking designs from concept to production, including manufacturing considerations Test & Evaluation Developing test strategies, executing trials, and validating system performance Requirements Management Capturing, analysing, and maintaining engineering requirements Product Qualification & Certification Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations Configuration Control Managing design changes and maintaining technical baselines Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience leading teams and managing complex engineering solutions. Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills. Experience with engineering governance and best practices. Ability to manage technical risk and engineering maturity throughout the development lifecycle. Comfortable briefing senior management and key stakeholders.
