About the role: To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications, through to supporting an existing client s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field. Principle Accountabilities: Provide engineering design input to new products and provide engineering support to the existing product range by assessing technical queries and providing engineering solutions. Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances. Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and creation of part numbers and bill of materials. Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports. Checking detailed electrical drawings and documentation, adherence to engineering and company standards and processes and compliance to internal and external standards & regulations. Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget. Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required. Accountability and responsibility as technical checker of drawings and documentation generated in support of the Electrical Engineer role. Who are we looking for? You will have excellent written and verbal communication along with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work as part of a team but also in isolation when required with excellent organisational skills. Be methodical and thorough whilst generating and checking documentation with the ability to adapt to changing scope or client demands. Willingness to take ownership and accountability of tasks and drive to completion. Focused on delivering high quality output to tight deadlines and willing to go the extra mile to ensure success is achieved. Focused on delivering cost efficient solutions on time and on budget. Qualifications and Experience: Demonstrated experience in a similar role. Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience. Proven electronics design skills. Knowledge of PCB schematic capture using software such as Altium Designer. Knowledge of PCB layout using software such as Altium Designer or working with external design bureaus to generate layouts/gerbers. Experience of circuit design for embedded systems (STM32 or similar). Experience writing embedded software (STM IDE or similar). Competent in the use of engineering design software tools / CAD packages. Knowledge of design standards. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages. Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV). You will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role and also have the right to work and reside in the UK.
