As a Design Engineer based in Preston, you ll play a key role in developing bespoke, energy-efficient heating solutions that contribute to a greener future. What You Will Do: Provide mechanical design input for operational and commercial teams, producing mechanical schematics and layouts tailored to customer specifications. Create detailed schematic and assembly drawings using AutoCAD 2D/3D, along with structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement. Ensure all designs comply with customer URS (User Requirement Specifications) and relevant ISO manufacturing and operational standards. Support continuous improvement projects to drive material and labour efficiency across the product range. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design or BOM-related issues, ensuring timely project delivery. Communicate and coordinate with clients, consultants, designers, and internal stakeholders to ensure design excellence and project success. What You Will Bring: Degree-level qualification in Engineering or Design (preferred), with a strong background in HVAC and M&E design. Proven experience in designing complex, multi-functional heating systems, including mechanical and piping design. Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally within the Building Services or Mechanical Engineering sectors. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
