Role can be based in either our Manchester (M1 3BN) or London office (E20 1JQ) Interviews are expected to be on 19th and 22nd May 2025 Main duties of the job As a Consultant Clinical Adviser, you will work approximately two days a week, providing clinical leadership and advice to NICE's work, particularly the guidance programmes. You will support the NICE Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Deputy CMO in planning and delivering outputs, ensuring that priorities are rooted in clinical need and add the most value. Key responsibilities: Provide clinical leadership to NICE guidance programmes. Contribute to the quality assurance of guidance and support the development of methodologies. Offer clinical advice and oversight throughout the lifecycle of NICE guidance. Engage with key external stakeholders and develop strategic relationships. Participate in a rota for responding to clinical queries and support the communications team. The directorate is also responsible for ensuring that the clinical requirements of NICE are anticipated and met in a dynamic way that is responsive to changing need, this includes supporting guidance development across all NICE s programmes. Person specification Education/Qualifications GMC registration and entry on the GMC specialist register or GMC GP register, with a current license to practice. Experience Experience of working in, or familiarity with, the National Health Service at consultant level or as an experienced general practitioner. Knowledge Strategic and operational knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following: health technology, evaluation of medicines and medicines optimisation, AI, digital, diagnostics and interventional procedures. Knowledge of methods of health technology assessment, critical appraisal, clinical guideline development and the interpretation and synthesis of health care research evidence. Skills Ability to establish effective working relationships, engage strategically with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally leading on external relationships as relevant.
