Complex Mental Health Workers

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

  • Salary: £12.00 per hour (£23,400 per annum) pro-rata plus benefits.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis, this role has a sleep-in requirement.
  • Employment type: Full-time, Permanent

  • The Role of Complex Needs Support Worker

    The Complex Mental Health Worker role is essential and plays a key role in the overall experience to the people we support at SeeAbility. Over the coming months, Leatherhead Support Service have the opportunity to support further individuals with complex health needs, to live a more fulfilled life and ultimately become more independent.

    We are on the lookout for experienced Mental Health Workers who are eager to join our inclusive and supportive team. Together, we work harmoniously to provide the necessary support to individuals with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, physical conditions, trauma-related conditions, behaviours that challenge, and visual impairments.

    In your role, you will utilise your expertise to assist the people we support. We highly value individuals who possess a strong work ethic and are open to the training we offer. You will be responsible for delivering both direct and practical support to the people we support and their families. It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important.

    Furthermore, as Complex Mental Health Worker you will be responsible for: 

  • Daily activities such as personal care; laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration.
  • Getting to know the people you support, helping them to live the life they want to live.
  • Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the people you support.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people you support.
  • Be familiar with challenges supporting complex needs, including challenging behaviours and trauma and be able to manage such situations in a calm, non-judgemental manner.
  • Helping the people you support plan towards and achieve, both short- and long-term goals. 
  • Planning and be in favour of activities, such as vacations, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities. 
  • Assist the people we support, to manage their personal affairs, making, preparing for, and attending any appointments.
  • You will assist the people we support and their families, and ensure that they are treated with respect, dignity, equality, and equity.
  • You will work in accordance with SeeAbility’s values.
  • Administer medication where necessary.
  • Act as an advocate where appropriate.
  • Contribute to team meetings and forums.
  • We are looking for people with the right attitude, who have an open mind and are forward-thinking. You will be able to work 37.5hrs per week on a shift rota basis, covering early shifts, late shifts, and weekend shifts.

    Holding a full UK drivers’ licence would be advantageous for this role, but is not essential.
