Chef Manager / Kitchen Manager who has a passion for cooking using quality ingredients with excellent leadership, team management and organisational skills is required to oversee the school kitchen operations at a Schools Trust, based in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. Working as the Chef Manager / Kitchen Manager you will oversee kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality vegetarian meals are prepared and served efficiently. The school specialise in nutritious, beautifully created vegetarian meals that nourish the body, mind and soul. As a Chef Manager / Kitchen Manager you will ensure top-quality food production, maintain high standards of health and safety, and lead a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional service. DUTIES Your duties as the Chef Manager / Kitchen Manager include: To operate within a team of permanent, part time and flexible staff in the unit, ensuring that the service is successfully delivered consistently to the required standard daily Ensure accurate and timely completion of all areas of administration associated with the service, as directed by the Operation Manager. This includes stock taking, HACCP / Safety records, and production planning wastage, wastage records and reduction Provide menus, maintain food standards and ensure the food is produced and served within the require standards Be responsible for the financial performance of the catering operation in the nominated unit, maintaining cost centres in line with the agreed budget and developing and growing sales and take up wherever possible Ensure financial reporting, stock and wastage control measures are in line with instructions from the Operations manager Responsible for the food and supply storage areas organisation Liaise and co-operate with the Manager or other unit chefs, to produce all meals in line with specification CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Kitchen experience Team management / leadership experience Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety Good organisational skills The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment Ability to work in a group and independently Ability to follow strict instructions in a systematic and consistent manner Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students BENEFITS Great opportunities for professional development Pension scheme (subject to eligibility) O2 discounts, Specsavers corporate eye test vouchers Eligible for NUS Card and CSSC membership Well-being programs (retreats, yoga, wellness apps) Cycle-to-work Scheme Plus many more Pre-employment checks The organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
