My client is seeking a driven Business Development Manager to help them grow their Utility Services and Connections division. Key Responsibilities Strategic Growth : Support the delivery of the business development strategy across multiple routes to market. Identify and pursue new opportunities within the utility infrastructure sector, including electricity, gas, water, and telecoms projects. Market Insight : Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and new areas for growth. Client Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in the Industrial & Commercial (I&C) space such as landowners, developers, contractors, utility providers, government bodies, and industry partners. Act as the primary contact throughout the sales and project lifecycle. Sales & Proposals : Lead the creation of compelling proposals and presentations, working with internal teams to align solutions with client expectations and technical capabilities. Contract Negotiation : Drive commercial negotiations to secure favourable terms while ensuring alignment with company goals. Networking : Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to grow visibility and identify new opportunities. Reporting : Use internal CRM systems to track activity, maintain pipeline visibility, and report on performance, trends, and insights to senior leadership. Cross-Team Collaboration : Work closely with teams across engineering, operations, and finance to support a smooth onboarding process and a consistent client experience. General : Support other tasks and initiatives as required in line with business needs. Ideal Candidate Profile Proven experience in business development or sales within the utility infrastructure sector. Established network or presence in electric, gas, water, or telecoms markets. Experience managing multiple services or complex offerings. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Strong writing ability and creative thinking. Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities. Familiarity with digital marketing and SEO principles is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Commercially astute and confident in negotiations. Comfortable networking and representing the business externally.
