Job Description

Large Insurance Company in EC3 requires an Underwriting Manager/Team Leader to look after a team of assistants. This role will be for 12-18 months. This would consist of liaising with the Project Management team on a daily basis, as well as with the Subject Matter Experts on reconciliations and any issues that might arise.

Specific Duties:

- The management of a small to medium processing centre (USC London) including assisting in the transition/relocation of this processing centre and defining standard business processes.
- Play an active and vital role in the recruitment, coaching and training of new team members.
- Foster an environment of learning and professional development within the Underwriting Support Centre.
- Manage employee relations and performance by compiling and completing annual staff reviews and dealing with internal staff requests and issues.
- Collaborate with Underwriting Managers and other stakeholders (Re-Insurance, Finance, Regional managers) in order to meet their servicing/ processing needs.
- Set up Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) in accordance with OPS/IT Management as well as managing these KPI's.
- Monitor the processing service levels against set benchmarks, as well as quality control.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard business processes.

The USC Manager will have the following qualifications:

Supervisory or management experience, preferably within a global insurance company;
Proven understanding/knowledge of the insurance industry with sound underwriting skills.
A degree or equivalent,
Excellent computer and software knowledge,
Personal characteristics that would foster an environment of learning and professionalism, Strong interpersonal and influencing skills required, Highly organized and highly efficient, Analytical and logical problem solver
