Job Description:
Job Title: Systems Administrator
Job Duration: 12+ months extendable Location: Iowa City, IA
Fulltime / W2: iGate Mastech
Job Responsibilities:
Implement highly available application services. Develop, conduct, and document tests to certify application environments and components according to business and service level requirements.
Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Java applications in BEA Weblogic 8.X, and 9.X platforms.
Provides architectural and practical guidance to avoid or minimize conditions that may result in unacceptable service loss or degradation. Effectively communicates risks and related mitigation plans.
Work with multiple teams, as required, to triage, troubleshoot, and resolve emergent production issues. Analyze system problems to determine root cause and preventative measures.
Work with hosting providers to identify and resolve single points of failure within production network, backup, storage, and server infrastructures.
Consult with IT project management, product management, development, and engineering teams to discuss capacity planning and hardware allocations for new and existing projects.
Develop automation routines for system setup, migration, and maintenance procedures. Ability to write scripts using languages such as Perl, bash, Python, etc.
Develop, communicate, and monitor standard processes in support of configuration management, deployments, new application hosting, backup and recovery, and failover capabilities.
Provides project support as required.
Experience Required:
3+ years of recent experience as Linux/Unix System Admin supporting BEA WebLogic, Jboss, and Tomcat J2EE platforms.
Understanding of general networking concepts and protocols.
Versatility as demonstrated with experience in various middleware technologies, database technologies and OS platforms
Experience with performance tuning tools such as JProbe, Optimizeit, Yourkit, etc. is a plus.
BEA Certified Systems Administrator strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree or appropriate combination of education and experience is required.
Java programming background is preferred.
Experience in a production environment supporting mission-critical applications.
Knowledge of standard production practices including change management
