Description:

PURPOSE OF JOB: To define and develop products used in Fluid Handling systems. Position involves multiple project responsibility from recognition of need through project completion.
JOB RESULT AREAS: 1.On time completion of major projects of significant complexity and scope which meet Product Specifications 2.Innovative and practical solutions to internal & external customer needs 3.Continuous development of technical expertise and application to design projects 4.Effective cross functional teamwork using simultaneous engineering method 5.Identification of new product opportunities based on personal knowledge of customer requirements and trends in customer marketplace
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES/DUTIES 1.Perform Engineering tasks in the development of new products and cost reduction. ·Participation in development of Product Specification ·Produce conceptual designs ·Guide development process to produce practical designs ·Creation of detailed design drawings ·Identification of applicable standards ·Analysis of design to applicable standards ·Analysis of design using engineering analysis tools and techniques (Finite Element Analysis, . . . ) ·Review of instruction manuals and product literature ·Define and lead prototype development and lab and field tests ·Work effectively in a team environment ·Work with manufacturing on process development ·Conduct design reviews, safety reviews... 2..Leader of new product development projects as required. ·Complete project feasibility and Pre-Prod authorizations ·Create and maintain project schedules ·Manage project to meet schedules, including: ØWorking with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in development process; ØIdentification and communication of threats to schedule to appropriate management ·Participate in release for sale activities ·Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status 3. Participate in identification of new product opportunities for Graco by: ·Recognize customer product needs ·Evaluate Graco and competitive products ·Propose and develop proper technology to fulfill customer needs 4. Direct and perform standard product support activities such as: ·Analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products ·Troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites ·Initiate corrective action activities 5. Learn, participate in development, and apply knowledge of: ·Stay abreast of developments in technical field to maintain technical knowledge. ·Graco product line ·Operational systems ·Graco and industry design standards ·Graco Quality Management System ·Graco customer applications and requirements ·Emerging trends in our customers' markets 6. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
|
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Essential: BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent as approved by divisional engineering management group. ·Excellent oral and written communication skills ·Excellent engineering/technical aptitude ·Minimum of 3 years experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to independently produce innovative and successful designs as part of large projects or for entire small projects ·Developing as a technical expert in technical topic(s) ·Ability to recognize customer product needs and trends in the marketplace which affect product requirements
Desirable: ·Professional engineering registration (EIT/PE). ·Advanced or multiple degree. ·Experience with Simultaneous-Engineering product development process. ·Experience with industrial fluid handling equipment design and development.
