Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work within a regional independent firm with a modern approach but well established roots. The firm has a broad portfolio of business clients spread across a range of industries and offers all the usual general practice services together with specialist Corporation Tax services. Although an independent firm, the firm has become a founder member of TIAG International Network of accountants. The firm is tailored to provide services to small to medium sized enterprises (SME's) including start-ups and family run businesses, large organisations, and divisions of multi-national corporations.
The firm has a prestigious client base throughout the UK and provides a highly professional service with a strong commitment to personal attention at all times.
Current expansion is driving the need for an experienced Corporate Tax Senior to work from the firm's offices in Milton Keynes.
The main duties will involve the management of the compliance cycle and the provision of tax advice to a variety of owner-managed companies and businesses and will include some or all of the following:
· Reviewing Corporation Tax computations and preparing CT600s
· Assisting the audit department in calculating tax provisions in accounts
· Preparation of partnership tax returns
· Capital allowance computations
· Preparation of capital gains tax computations and claims for relief under EIS and VCT
· Corresponding with clients and HM Revenue & Customs
· National Insurance calculations
· Preparation of P11Ds and other end of year returns
· Dealing with HM Revenue & Customs enquiries
· Providing support to the Partners in advising clients on tax planning opportunities
· Providing support to the manager responsible for VAT, including review and planning activity
An understanding of self-employed and company accounts would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be given their own portfolio of clients to manage.
Preparation of returns and computations is wholly computerised and the successful candidate will be expected to be fully conversant with the appropriate software.
The Tax Senior will be expected to work without the need for constant supervision and to show initiative in dealing with clients' affairs. The person will also be expected to take responsibility for monitoring their own time budgets.
There is a strong learning ethic throughout the firm and staff are actively encouraged to study for formal professional qualifications and to attend technical update courses.
