| .:: Essential Job Duties: | ||||||
| Shift Work Installs, inspects, and performs modifications and repairs to electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems. Performs major repair, replacement, and overhaul of power support system components such as diesel, multi-fuel, or gas turbine engines, and electrical accessories of engines. Troubleshoots electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Plans, organizes and directs activities of detailed personnel for self-help programs. Performs facility surveys ensure personnel have a clean, safe and secure facility through efficient facility management. Coordinate with other agencies to obtain special equipment when necessary. Coordinate plans with NEADS Civil Engineer. Evaluates self-help projects and determines all projects are in compliance with approved plans, organization standards, industry standards and regulatory code compliance. Recommend corrective action. Determines supply requirements for remodeling, suggest sources of supply, prepares supply budget orders, and arranges delivery with NEADS Supply. Assist NEADS Civil Engineering with troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical equipment and circuitry to include motor generator sets, electric motors, circuit breakers, and electrical distribution panels. Maintain 125 volt DC battery bank for switching, as well as other batteries for shop use. Install new lighting and wall receptacles, run conduit and wire to new circuit breaker panels. Maintain 1200 amp Circuit Breakers, change fuses, troubleshoot and install new components for Bldg 387, 702, 866 & 700. Assist NEADS Electrician with all changes for electrical in house remodels. Inspects and tests large Circuit Breakers for proper operation. Maintain Emergency and Exit Lights. | ||||||

| Physical Effort: Active, standing; lifting equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds; works in cramped positions. Working Conditions; Mostly inside work; danger of cuts and bruises. Other: Involves shift work and uncommon tours of duty. | Required Experience: Minimum 5 years journeyman experience Education or Certification Requirements: USAF AFSC, military occupational specialty code commensurate with position or equivalent civilian experience. Thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. -- Knowledge of the basic principles behind the operation of most of the following: AC and DC electric power generation systems, combustion-powered reciprocating engines, turbine engines, multi-drive gear units, heating and cooling systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pressure regulators, and electrical switching, harness wiring, and metering systems. | ||||||
