Job Description:

Title: Unix/Linux Programmer

Duration: 6 month Contract

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Salary: In range of $75,000 to 83,000 per annum plus all corporate benefits or upto $45/hr depending upon the skills and experience.

Job Summary:

This position functions as a senior team member. The incumbent is responsible for the definition, development, and implementation of new systems, and major enhancements to existing systems, as well as production support for systems with high complexity. Requires good organizational skills and good time management skills, and strong analytical and problem solving skills. The incumbent is capable of providing project leadership for major feasibility or business systems analysis studies. The incumbent is capable of directing a team, delegating assignments, providing technical guidance and applying project management expertise. The incumbent must be able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff, and with customers in defining requirements. Position typically requires 6-10 years of experience in application development as outlined above

Required Skills:

In depth knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and shell scripting is required. Knowledge of IBM Websphere Translation Extender (WTX / DataStage TX / Mercator) is highly desirable.

Operating Systems: UNIX/Linux, Shell Commands, Shell Scripting required

Translation/Mapping Tools: Websphere Translation Extender (WTX) / DataStage TX / Mercator experience is desirable
WTX Modules: Design Studio, Commerce Manager

Programming Languages: UNIX shell scripting, Java, C

Database: Relational database design - SQL, PL/SQL, reading from and writing to enterprise tables - Oracle 9/10 preferred.

Preferred Skills:

--This position is responsible for providing technical expertise in Unix/Linux systems area.

-- Ideal candidate will be required to have 3- 4 years of system experience in Unix/linux environment with strong unix shell scripting skills.

--As a member of a Infrastructure team, the candidate would help with building, configuring and re-synching of Release and Production support environments.

--Work on quality improvement processes and focus on moderate to complex systems and recommend improvements to applications/ processes.

--Identify conflicting system resources issues and recommend solutions for optimal performance.

--On a needed basis, it may be required to work collaboratively with software vendors and open systems to demonstrate product bugs/issues and work towards a interim patch and having it applied in a timely manner.

--Candidate will also require providing second hand support to business groups to facilitate with their testing activities.
