Overview:

The Application Support Analyst will support various applications used within Mirant Corporation to support Corporate Applications with emphasis on Environmental operations. Responsible for analyzing the business needs for internal customers and devising solutions through creative use of existing software or third-party solutions. In some instances, the candidate will be responsible for developing solutions to integrate existing software or developing entire custom solutions. Must have strong interpersonal skills, and will have direct contact with clients, various IT support teams and vendors.

The daily tasks might include troubleshooting an issue with an existing software package, making changes to an existing custom application, understanding and documenting user requirements, identifying the appropriate applications impacted; (re)writing/configuring applications to address user requirements; integrating and testing following a software development life cycle; creating a report; or writing a functional specification for an interface.

Responsible for establishing and managing rapport with other analysts, developers, consultants and customers as appropriate to support Mirant's business. Expected to perform these duties in a prompt, professional and courteous manner in an environment where priorities are subject to continuous change. Occasionally there will be a need to develop an application from scratch, but this role is mostly the support and tweaking of existing applications. When necessary, the analyst will be expected to edit/write customized rules in Java, Javascript and .Net.



Responsibilities:

1. Establish and maintain working rapport with users, the support team

    and other IT teams.

2. Develop, configure and support applications while following established Sarbanes-Oxley controls and Mirant standards.

3. Learn and understand the business for the groups you are supporting so

    you can enable the most effective use of the technical solutions

4. Be flexible in changing priorities and associated work activities to meet

    the changes in the business.

5. Ensure documentation is created as needed and ensure programming

    standards are followed (i.e. technical requirements, commenting code

    changes, application architecture diagrams, operating procedures)

6. Ensure Program Change Control procedures are followed.

7. Communicate effectively and efficiently with management, customers

    and team members
8. Work with other IT organizations to strengthen the department and

    accomplish team goals

Qualifications:
  • 3 - 5 years information systems experience
  • Proven technical aptitude skills
  • Proven analytical & problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated written/oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, .NET

 Preferred

Functional understanding of HR, Accounting, Environmental, Health & Safety and Internal Audit

 

Education

Preffered: B.S. Computer Science or other equivalent degree
