Responsibilities


* Develops significant software components with little supervision

* Leads the design of software components

* Provides reliable estimates of effort and good identification of risks

* Gains significant business and system knowledge for a set of related components

* Contributes significantly to system design and requirements analysis

* Mentors junior developers in critical software engineering skills, including OO design and OO programming

* Prioritizes work on several projects at a time

* Applies good software engineering processes, including iterative development, test driven development, unit tests, source code control, inspections and reviews

* Stays current with technology and industry best practices

* Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design to meet all product requirements including schedule, quality, & performance goals

* Assists with preparation of, and interprets specifications for operational and performance requirements for software systems

Qualifications


* Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field

* Must have a minimum of six (6) years experience in software engineering

* Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience developing Graphical User Interface (GUI) desktop applications

* Must have a demonstrated experience developing for Microsoft Windows environments in C++, C# or Java

* Must have experience with multi-threaded applications

* Strong familiarity with configuration management tools and defect management tools

* Understanding of UI design principles of good usability

* Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills



* You must be willing to work out of an office in Austin, TX

Desired

* Experience defining and creating GUI structure that support real-time operations for video and audio surveillance

* Experience developing applications utilizing HW SDK's

* Experience developing video systems (knowledge of streaming and video formats).

* Thorough knowledge of security issues, including authentication and encryption and demonstrated experience with standards like AES

* Experience with a variety of development processes, methodologies and tools

* Familiarity with security camera and surveillance application usage models is a plus

* Experience with embedded systems

* Team leadership experience

The chosen candidate will work with small, self-motivated teams, and will collaborate with Product Marketing and respond to their Product Requirements to define products that meet customer needs, transforming those needs into the design of next generation products.
