World Wide Technology, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Middleware Applications Administrator. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the areas of web and middleware server administration. Middleware servers include application servers and B2B integration servers.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of JVM (Java Virtual Machine) - based servers deployed on UNIX systems with a focus on advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning at the server software and operating system level. Weblogic Administration preferred but would also consider Websphere or JBoss.
Job Responsibilities

Provide high-availability support for middleware systems ensuring uptime.

Evaluate new middleware technologies and supporting software and make recommendations that will enhance the capabilities of the existing infrastructure.

Recommend best-practice solutions for web and middleware server technologies.

End-to-end monitoring of middleware performance and availability.

Analysis reporting for the purpose of capacity planning.

Maintain technical documentation that supports the web and middleware server environments.

Troubleshoot complex functional and technical incidents occurring on JVM-based servers running on UNIX.

Analyze and tune memory consumption and garbage collection routines on various JVM platforms to ensure efficient use of system resources.

Participate in the software deployment processes.

Provide on-call and after hours support for production environments on a rotation basis.

Provide technical leadership and cross-training to peers in areas of expertise.
Qualifications
-
5+ years of experience with relevant middleware technologies (Weblogic, Websphere, and/or JBoss).

Thorough understanding of garbage collection & performance tuning concepts.

Strong UNIX skill set with demonstrated knowledge of low-level operating system utilities.

Web server administration experience with an understanding of the integration points to middleware solutions (apache and iPlanet preferred).

Experience with monitoring solutions across multiple systems is preferred (specific experience with Introscope and HP OpenView are strong pluses).

Strong understanding of how applications communicate and work with relational databases.

Familiarity with the J2EE framework and related application components.

Proven problem-solving, change management and technical planning skills.

Experience with WebLogic 8.x (or greater) and JBOSS systems is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to work with and lead other administrators.
