Modis IT is seeking a qualified Configuration Management Engineer for a direct hire/permanent position in Reston, VA.

POSITION SUMMARY
-The Configuration Management Engineer - II will assist in the Process Engineering as well as the implementation and enforcement of Configuration Management procedures as it pertains to Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Applications. The CME – II will assist in the initial creation of VOBs, schemas, branches and integration projects, in addition to the development and prototyping of automation tools in support of DW and BI product releases.
-The CME - II will have a strong understanding of software development, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence applications and related procedures.
-This individual will also be responsible for the hands on building and deployment activities of software packages as well as DW and BI product releases.
-The CME – II will be skilled in all phases of the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence development lifecycle.
-The CME – II will assist and mentor CME – I activities and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• End user tool support for Rational Suite clients (Clear Quest, Test Manager, Req Pro, Rose and Clear Case) where applicable.
• Assist in definition, implementation and support of version control strategy (e.g. vob creation, custom configurations, branching, baselining, merging)
• Define and support Change Control system implementation where needed
• Define and support Requirements Management strategy (e.g. roles and permissions, document types, requirement types)
• Perform training sessions for Rational Tools
• Develop, document and promote CM best practices
• Research and implement process improvement and automation
• Establish and maintain good working relationship with project management, development, QA and infrastructure support teams
• Assist in definition, implementation and support of change control strategy
• Implements and manages systematic packaging and deployment of product releases.


PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internal Contacts:
Maintains regular contacts with staff in own and other departments with the purpose of coordinating activities and scheduling and collaborating to produce work. Participate in supervising staff, consultants, and vendors and contributes to decisions regarding selection or evaluation.

External Contacts:
Maintains frequent contacts with members, customers and vendors with a moderate impact on the image, reputation and/or business or operational well-being of the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
At least 3 years software lifecycle experience
3 plus years working experience with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
3 - 4 years working in a software development environment
Experience with deployment and CM support for Informatica
Experience with deployment and CM support for Modern Business Intelligence Tools
-Experience with build technologies (ant, java, xml)
-Experience with source control applications (vss, Clear Case)
-Experience with Unix/Windows, min 3 years
-Experience with Rational Tool suite – Test Manager, ReqPro, Clear Case, Clear Quest, Rose, min 2 – 3 years
