About the Team
We are seeking a highly motivated senior software engineer to be a part of the dynamic Infrastructure Engineering team at Akamai that develops innovative and elegant systems that run Akamai, one of the largest distributed systems in the world. The Akamai Global Network spans 1100+ networks in 70+ countries and is one of the largest distributed systems in the world.

The Infrastructure Engineering team develops systems that will enable Akamai to scale operations as it grows to a company with over a billion dollars in revenue. An ongoing project of this Bangalore-based group involves automating interaction with Akamai’s product catalog. We are currently automating order form generation which will make this team hugely popular to Akamai’s sales force and resellers. A next big project is an incident dashboard system for problems reported with Akamai’s 25,000 edge servers.

About the Job
As a part of our team you will:
* Do end to end development -- gathering requirements, designing , implementing solutions and deploying them
* Work on systems that scale and automate Akamai operations: our automated order form system, incident dashboard, project tracking system, and build and release tracking system
* Primarily use technologies like Ruby on Rails , Oracle, Mysql databases, Perl in a Linux environment

Responsibilities
* Work independently to identify user requirement and propose technical solutions to address them
* The ideal candidate should take ownership of full lifecycle development for signifcant deliverables
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
* Overall Experience: 5-7 years or equivalent experience
* A strong development background in at least two of Java/J2EE, Perl, Ruby, or Python, in a Unix environment
* Full lifecycle development background

Desired Qualifications
* Web development background
* Significant knowledge of SQL
* Experience with database and data model management
* Ability to work in a dynamic, small-team environment
* A strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
* Experience creating automated test suites or enthusiasm about learning how
