Support Engineer Hardware
  • Description
      General Duties and Responsibilities for S/w support:
    • Install and troubleshoot software applications developed in-house within ACS.
    • Complete responsibility for maintaining and provide first level support to end customers.
    • The candidates will front-end all calls from customers.
    • Should be able to attend to support requests with-in a 2 hour window.
    • Follow guidelines for troubleshooting and document all problems in daily maintenance log as well as all actions taken to ensure smooth operation.
    • Familiarity with a Helpdesk ticketing software a plus.
    • Notify users of any expected system downtime or outages.
    • Support team works 24 x 7. The person should be willing to work in shifts. Shift may fall on a weekend.
  • Education and Typical Years of Experience
      Support Engineer should have ability to support a large and complex system that has different components from multiple vendors. Candidate should be able to diagnose and troubleshoot faults as well as perform preventive and corrective maintenance as required.

    • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems - Windows 2000/2003 Server and other Microsoft networking technologies.
    • Knowledge of DELL server hardware, system software, SCSI and RAID.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, IIS and APACHE server.
    • Familiarity with network design and technologies including TCP/IP, VPN, Ethernet, encryption, SSL.
    • Expert system troubleshooting skills
    • Expert knowledge of network security practices and technologies
    • Must be familiar with regulatory compliance, writing policies and procedures.
    • Must be very familiar with software used to monitor and manage server systems
    • Must be an expert with common office software including Word, Excel and Visio in a Microsoft Windows environment.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    General Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Notify users of any expected system downtime or outages.
    • Install all software patches and virus scanner updates
    • Perform installations from remote.
    • Should be able to set up, configure, deploy and maintain server class hardware and software.
    • Responsible for all server-side applications
    • Responsible for system security
    • Responsible for user account administration on all the servers
    • Troubleshoots and resolves server application performance issues
    • Responsible for upgrades, patches, and rolling out of new applications and equipment
    • Researches, recommends, and implements best practices
    • Maintains server documentation
    • Monitors server performance
    • Performs other duties as assigned by manager
    • Need to work in a 24x7 operation with shift rotation.
    • This position will require both scheduled and non-scheduled after-hours availability.
     
  • Special Requirements
      Requirements: • College degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years college education or equivalent education and experience. • Minimum 1 year of work experience. • Must be fluent in English.
