Title/Role: IT Web Application Infrastructure Specialist

Department: IT

Reports to: IT Manager, Custom Application Development

FLSA: Exempt

 

Summary:

 

This position reports to the IT Manager of Custom Application Development but will take direction from the Application Infrastructure IT Lead. Job responsibilities include installing and configuring infrastructure components and interfaces along with working Application owners in the Custom Application Development group to insure the infrastructure will meet the application requirements. Requires working on multiple projects, systems, issues, working Reliant’s with third party operations provider and as needed with local and off-shore developers. Strong technical skills required.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with IT application owners and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Escalates or resolves conflicts, as needed.
  • Helps identify and recommend options, risks and alternatives to deliver a robust and stable web infrastructure.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, form of desired results, and integration of components.
  • Assists in researching, evaluating, specifying and coding the configuration of hardware and/or software for application’s environment.
  • Requires skill and proficiency in many technical functions and ability to integrate across disciplines.
  • Remain abreast of current technologies and best practices that may be applicable to the company.
  • Take direction from IT Lead to perform ad-hoc duties to support production support team and development teams with tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant business discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience:

  • 2+ years Documentum Web Content Management (WCM) - including Site Delivery Services (SDS)/Site Caching Services (SCS) setup and config. Must have working knowledge of Documentum core products as well.
  • 3+ years of infrastructure implementation experience for custom application development environment with increasing levels of responsibility. Technologies include:
    • UNIX Shell scripting (PERL, AWK)
    • Security: Cisco Firewall, Computer Associates Netegrity Identity Manager & Siteminder configurations, Radius, SAN/NAS & Cisco Load Balancer & PKI (SSL)
    • Web Application & Portal: Sun Java Servers, Apache, MS IIS, Tomcat, and Tibco
    • Databases: Oracle 10G, MS SQL Server, JDBC/ODBC and PL/SQL
    • Directory (LDAP - configuration and clean-up): Sun Java (iPlanet)Server, Active Directory, Novell eDirectory
    • Application/Database modeling
    • PL/SQL for Oracle and/or SQL Server
    • Networks and Protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SFTP and WAN/LAN
    • Proxy and Cache Servers: Netscape, Apache and MS Proxy Server
    • Monitoring: Sitescope, Topaz, Keynotes, and Big Brother
    • OS: Unix(Solaris, HP-UX, BSD), Windows NT/2000,
    • Desktop Applications: MS Project, MS Office, MS Visio, Erwin Data Modeler
    • XML/HTML/JavaScript
    • Programming: Java (J2SE/J2EE), Web Services, XML/XSLT, JavaScript, Perl, Unix Scripting and C/C++
  • Experience integrating applications with Siebel, Documentum 5i+ and SAP/CCS including using Netweaver/Xi and SAP Portal preferred
  • Familiar with common Java development tools including Ant, JUnit, Log4j, etc.
  • Proven understanding of Unix (preferably Solaris) operating system
  • Proven understanding of Windows operating systems
  • Proven experience in object –oriented application development
  • Understanding of Relational Database concepts is a must
