Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide accurate English gists, extracts, full, and verbatim translations of Arabic audio language material and documents in hard copy and electronic formats in a manner that maintains the integrity of the material. Write and speak in clear and concise English with correct grammar, spelling and pronunciation Provide accurate and idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from and to the specific foreign language in English. Quickly scan and process large amounts of material in the specific foreign language for critical and essential elements of information defined by the government. Provide input to government counterparts in the production of written reports developed from target material utilizing the specific foreign language.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Background and Experience: (including education, skills, work activities)
(a) Minimum required: Level 3/3 proficiency in Arabic as defined by the ILR. Must possess native or very near-native competency in Arabic, along with excellent verbal and written American English language capabilities (grammar, vocabulary, idioms, spelling) U.S. Citizenship and willingness to undergo a background investigation and polygraph in order to obtain a U.S Government security clearance. Technical automated information system skills, such as word processing and data entry, to be used in conjunction with written translations, as well as the ability to use advanced language software programs.
(b) Desired: Previous military or Signals Intelligence experience, preferably with duty as a transcriber.
Current TS/SCI clearance.
