We are seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to help us meet the growing demand for models and services that support the development of Therapeutic Stem Cells. This is a high impact position offering you the opportunity to create and implement a robust pipeline products/services that address this dynamic market and that are in furtherance of the Lab¡¿s mission. This position is located at our facility in Sacramento, CA.
Ensure an ongoing pipeline of new products/services that fulfill unmet needs in the market place, provide revenue and surplus and that are in furtherance of the Lab¡¿s mission. Manage the product development process ensuring timely and cost effective delivery of new products to the research community.
What distinguishes the incumbent from Manager, Senior Manager and Associate Director is the range of experience, specialized knowledge, independent judgment used, proficiency in problem solving, and impact of errors. Manager is expected to have 1-2 years of product development and/or project management experience in product-based organization and documented ability to manage peer level teams. Senior Manager is expected to have 2-4 years of product development and project management experience, documented success in developing new products along with documented experience in managing peer-level teams. Travel requirement for Manager/Senior manager positions is 6-10% (~ 3-5 weeks per year). Associate Director is expected to have 5 years experience leading product development teams for products directed to the biomedical research market. This position is expected to assume leadership of aspects of the initial opportunity assessment phase of the product development process and in setting the strategic direction of JMS¡¿ product development efforts. Travel requirement for this position is 10%-20% (5-10 weeks per year).
Effectively work with Sr. Director, Product Management; Product Managers, Opportunity Development, GRS, TED, Scientific Staff and the external community to identify market opportunities that leverage core competencies and result in differentiated and valuable product/service offerings. Associate Director will take the lead on overall opportunity assessment, both within and outside of their technical area of expertise.
Create and implement a robust product development process that manages technical risk and financial investment through milestone-based development plans. Provide regular progress reports to key stakeholders. Coordinate and oversees proof of concept experimentation, pilot projects, beta testing, scale up and transfer to appropriate operations team. Support development and execution of market launch by coordinating technical support to the product manager. Manage product development budget.
Work with Tech Transfer and Product Management to establish fully integrated commercialization plan for Lab developed IP.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
'X PhD with research experience related to therapeutic stem cells. Background in Immunology, Inflammation or Cardiovascular Disease preferred.
'X Product development experience preferred.
'X Project management experience with demonstrated successful experience in formulating, implementing and evaluating complex plans and programs.
