We are seeking a Supervisor of Electrical Engineering to work within our R & D department at our corporate Headquarters in Lake Mary, FL.  Lake Mary was rated by CNN Money as the #4 neighborhood in the country in 2007.


SCOPE:
Perform duties to supervise Electrical Engineering tasks and personnel as part of a team responsible for development of new products and support of existing products, making decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 1.     Supervise the design team performing development of new products,  determine project requirements and objectives,  establish project parameters and schedules, and provide oversight/technical expertise as needed as directed by the VP of Engineering.

2.      Oversee the completion of the project design.  Assign tasks and ensure their completion in accordance with project timelines. 

3.      Design circuits and electronic systems for electronic development projects.

4.      Assist in the creation of detailed requirements documents that form design input for new projects, and lead the team through verification and validation of designs relative to project requirements.

5.      Provide technical advice within field of expertise to other organization personnel as may be requested. 

6.      Provide reports and technical input to the VP of Engineering about activities, progress, and proposed plans.

7.       Collaborate with engineering personnel specializing in mechanical design and software development to coordinate the overall product definitions and requirements for the electronics design. 

8.      Maintain documentation while tracking the progress of the assigned project, and ensure documentation of efforts by the team.  Evaluate projects as they progress to ensure integrity with the initial intent.

9.      Develop and implement testing procedures.  Evaluate and document test results.

10.   Oversee and evaluate contribution of team members and provide guidance to assure maximum efficiency of the organization in achieving project objectives.

11.   Provide direction and mentoring, develop and communicate performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of team, both as a department and individually.  Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to team members.  Maintain harmonious employee/employer relations. 

12.   Interface with Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance departments to assist in resolution of vendor, manufacturing, process, design, and customer issues and assure that proper Engineering resources have been assigned, as required.

 
Requirements

 

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, plus at least 8 years of experience designing products including 2 years in an engineering supervision or lead role. MSEE preferred.

 



OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Perform or assist with any departmental operations, as
required or directed to maintain work flow and meet schedules and
requirements.  Perform other related duties as assigned.
2. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task
force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain
approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge
pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
3. Recommend revisions to control documentation such as
production check lists, operating procedures and policy manuals.
4. Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures
and equipment operating rules.
5. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Various computer equipment, peripherals and software including
project management, design, analysis, mathematical, and graphics
packages.  Mechanical and computerized measuring devices and standard office equipment.
