| Overview:
|
As a senior engineer you will be a key member of a team of software engineers who are responsible for maintaining the high quality update stream of Nuance's currently released Network ASR speech recognition and various other products. The ideal candidate will have excellent software development skills, and solid knowledge of C/C++, including implementation planning with excellence in engineering judgment and detailed technical solutions. Telecom experience or knowledge of Java a plus.

| Responsibilities:
|
* Fix defects and assist with design and/or re-design of features for currently released products, including ownership of specifications. * Assist in triage and determining the relative priorities of defects across maintenance releases and occasionally communicating technical information to customers; develop and execute unit tests and QA tests for each feature and for defect verification. * Support issues raised at customer sites. * Estimate effort required for development tasks with high precision. * Follow and improve the development process.

| Qualifications:
|
Solid knowledge of C/C++ is mandatory; Java knowledge is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, as is the ability to work well in a team. Demonstrate excellence at troubleshooting, from problem analysis, debugging, to defect resolution. Extensive experience in systems software engineering on products with large code base is required. Good knowledge of a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Solaris, Linux, and AIX. Knowledge of client-server programming is a plus. Must be able to work with and for remote management personnel and require minimal direct supervision. B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree is required, along with a minimum of 4-8 years programming experience in C/C++.
