Job Description 10+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING: RESPONSIBILITIES: Accountable for developing software code and associated life cycle deliverables for PC and Mainframe applications. Interprets process, data modules, and business requirements into software code. Analyzes, designs, develops, implements and maintains moderate to complex computer programs and subsystems. Performs all of the steps required to design, test, and code such programs. Develops procedures and operating instructions, and successfully moves programs into production. Provides production support through problems analysis and resolution to correct deficiencies. Performs assignments under direct supervision. COMPETENCIES: Analyze problem or new request; design problem or new request resolution; familiar with SDLC methodologies; develop program specifications; design testing requirements; code modules according to specifications and client standards; prepare test plan and test modules; develop program and system documentation; conduct program and system implementation; maintain application production environment; respond and resolve production problems; and respond and resolve user inquiries. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent training or work experience. Minimum of ten years as a software developer. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Abbott, a Fortune 100 healthcare company is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to provide technical leadership in managing the corporation’s library portal and associated knowledge management solutions that support information needs of all Abbott’s lines of business and employees in 130 countries. CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Coordinate the overall technical design, development, and frontline support of the Library’s portal and related information sources. - Partner with library colleagues and business/scientific professionals to identify technical solutions across a broad range of business functions, disease/therapeutic areas, and geographic locations. - Research and apply industry best practices and innovative approaches in developing and maintaining integrated technical solutions. - Evaluate and select appropriate software, information services, and other information technologies related to information organization and access. Manage technical vendor relationships. - Represent the Library Information Resources group on corporate-wide information solution teams. QUALIFICATIONS: - Demonstrated leadership ability in management and development of complex web sites, including: information architecture, content development, usability, and usage assessment. - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of personalities and levels in the organization. - Experience designing and developing multiple services and resources in a web-based environment, including experience with SQL, XML, Java, ASP, .NET, Perl and web services in general. - Knowledge of web architecture principles, including familiarity with web accessibility/usability norms and guidelines. - Knowledge and experience with IBM WebSphere Portal, ILWCM, InfoDesk, Relais and/or Endeavor products strongly preferred, but not required. - Masters degree in library and/or information science, or equivalent professional experience preferred but not required.
