Functions: |
The Directional Drilling Supervisor is responsible for managing the entire directional drilling function as Ryan’s representative and is the key directional drilling expert at the work site (land or offshore). Reporting to the client’s field Drilling Foreman and to the appropriate Directional Drilling Coordinator in Ryan’s office, the essential job functions are:
- Ultimate responsibility for Ryan Field Operation on that location by representing Ryan in a positive and professional manner.
- Review Well Plan and communicate with client geologist, client engineer and/or other company representatives to discuss all changes deemed necessary.
- Selecting necessary tools to implement the Well Plan (includes drill bits, bottom hole assemblies, motor configurations and settings, etc.).
- Interpret the MWD information and apply drilling expertise, problem solving ability and drilling experience to ensure the well is executed according to the original well plan.
- Provide main office with a daily progress report ensuring Operations management is kept informed of any potential problems.
- Provide and document an End of Well summary describing any problems encountered including recommended solutions.
- Ensuring safety policy is followed and enforced.
- Ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed and signed by the company representative.
- If assigned a Trainee, a performance assessment must be completed for the Trainee’s learning under your direction.

| Requirements: |

Education- High School Diploma
- Petroleum Engineering/Technology education is a definite asset.
|
| |
Experience- A thorough understanding of drilling and wellbore conditions.
- Varied exposure and experience with Bottom Hole Assemblies which includes how they will re-act in different conditions and situations.
- Hands-on experience in a variety of conditions and situations is seen as a key knowledge base for making effective decisions on a directional drilling project.
- Class 5 drivers license, with clean driving record
