The Database Developer position is part of a multi-disciplinary project team developing business systems and applications to meet the needs and priorities of clients. The position involves working directly with both management and end users; the position will be responsible for supporting tools, techniques and organizational factors necessary to achieve those objectives and the tactical approaches necessary to ensure successful execution.

The Database Developer will provide business systems consulting, software development and database administration expertise to meet business/program goals and objectives. The Database Developer candidate will perform all aspects of software development from analysis through software development and support.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Supporting existing database applications, primarily in an SQL Server environment;
  • Providing stored procedure development and optimization; Developing database structures and applications based upon a set of functional requirements;
  • Using RUP tools and techniques to develop concise functional and technical requirements;
  • Software development;
  • Provide technical expertise and advice in complex systems, engineering, analysis and design through experience and research in information technology solutions and trends.
  • Required Skills
    The Database Developer should possess strong software development skills, strong background with database development and administration, modeling and simulation, and software environments and tools; requirements analysis, to include formal knowledge and understanding of all aspects of requirements engineering and facilitation from elicitation to stakeholder approval and traceability, and technology and communications analysis, to include an understanding of information technology hardware, software, protocols and applications as they apply to broader organizational objectives.

    General qualification requirements include the ability to work under pressure and hit tight deadlines, the ability to work independently with the minimum of supervision, good computer skills (software languages and database tools), and excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Candidates should also have experience working with senior level Government and commercial representatives.

    Specific skills include: Practical experience with the Unified Process, familiarity with RUP tool suite beneficial; Experience creating artifacts using UML to include Activity and Design Class Diagrams; OOAD, including the use of design patterns; .Net/C#; Java; Microsoft SQL Server; Stored Procedures and Trigger development; Experience soliciting user requirements and documenting them in a Use Case/SRS is helpful.
    Required Experience
    Candidates must possess a minimum B.S. in Computer Science from an accredited college or university and have 5+ years of experience in application and database development. A Masters Degree and former military or Government experience is a plus.
