iSeries Programmer Analyst #3872
Description of position: This position performs the tasks necessary to support and further develop Costco’s multiple i5 (iSeries400) application systems. This requires technical knowledge of i5 programming necessary to maintain current applications, augment existing functionality, and develop new systems. The Programmer/Analyst will help mentor peers with respect to programming techniques and Costco business systems. Daily tasks and responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Analyzing programs and applications to determine how they function in order to integrate modifications or enhancements. · Support the creation of business case framework documents. · Work with business users to help define and document requirements. · Designing and/or programming specific applications as assigned. · Creating or modifying programs with or without written program specifications, consistent with department procedures, philosophies, and standards. · Troubleshooting and correcting programming errors as assigned. · Creating test scripts and executing adequate unit and system testing while providing necessary test documentation. · Providing mentoring and support to both project and area team members. · Provide time estimates for assigned tasks. · Work on multiple projects or enhancements.
Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates should possess): · Minimum 5 years experience designing, developing, and testing applications. · Strong capabilities in writing interactive and batch programs in RPGIII, RPGIV, RPG Freeform , SQL and CL on an iSeries400. · Application design experience (files, screens, jobs, dependencies). · Accomplished utilization of Development Tools/Utilities (PDM, SEU, SDA, RDU/RLU, Debug, Hawkeye, Sequel, EZview). · Competent in ability to de-bug RPGIII, RPGIV, SQL, and CLP, both interactive and batch. · Ability to effectively perform unit and system testing of applications, to include as necessary, the creation and execution of test scripts. · Strong analytical and problem solving skills. · Strong work ethic. · Strong communication skills. · Proven ability to follow priorities and timelines. · Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends, and perform on-call support as required. · Capabilities in some of the following would be a plus: Java, Object Oriented Design, Web-based development, HTML, Java Script, Websphere.
