Blue Shield of California is a long-established health care firm which is embarking on a major program to reengineer its core business and to modernize the technology that supports it. The Legacy Modernization program will provide the key technology and business processes which are fundamental to delivering on the firm's strategies for future growth.

Bring your expertise to direct initiatives of our Legacy Modernization program. You will serve as a technical resource throughout the lifecycle of the program across the technology stack, including data, applications, security, channels and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Establishes the overall architecture framework for the program; delivers all components needed to support the architecture and launch its functionality.
• Assists with project initiation activities during the conceptual design of the program.
• Creates high-level technical design and detail technical design; drives designs through to implementation.
• Partners with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure that the program complies with existing architectural standards; drives adoption of new firm-wide standards where needed for program success.
• Composes integrated architecture roadmap for the life of the program; integrates blueprints for data, applications and infrastructure architecture; reconciles roadmap with the plans and standards of the Enterprise Architecture team.
• Manages efforts specific to the implementation and renewal of architecture frameworks, tools and platforms throughout the life of the program.
• Supports decision-making by providing analysis of existing and preferred applications within multiple product lines.
• Evaluates and recommends architecture and delivery tools, platforms and vendors.
• Leads team of Applications Architect, Data Architect and Infrastructure Architect.

Qualifications:
Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering and 15+ years of IT experience in a large organization with complex, multi-tiered technical solutions, including Web portals, hosted environments, mainframes and mid-range platforms; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years as an Enterprise Architect, with exposure to applications, data and technology architecture disciplines.
• 6+ years of development with high-level language and modern development tools, including Java, EJB, DAO, JTA, ORB, Beans, JMS, Servlets and JSP.
• Development experience in deployed, large distributed systems across multiple platforms; must include mainframe languages such as COBOL and ALC.
