Description

We are looking for two (2) Construction Project Managers who are experienced in the super­market construction industry.  They must have five (5) years supermarket/grocery construction management experience.  We need one person available to cover Long Island, New York and the five boroughs of New York.  A construction or related degree preferred, and field  experience is a must.  Will need strong communication and organizational skills.  Also must have working knowledge of the computer (Word, Excel, and Outlook).  Persons will be required to carry a blackberry. 

 

Responsible for the overall management of supermarket renovations as a construction project.  They will manage the project from start to finish.  Will be responsible to prepare the bid docu­mentation and write the scope of work for a project.  They will handle all project requests, con­tracts, change orders, and updating financial project status accordingly.  Will also control dollar commitments versus project request.  Approval of progress payments and reporting of commit­ments versus the budget.  Interface with project architects,  consultants, and the Real Estate and Design Departments to insure the project is developed in accordance with all agreements and in conformance to all the current criteria for club development.  Will continue consultation with design regarding all proposed changes to plans from the initial construction documents and continuing through the final fit-out stage.

 

They will work with the Contractor to coordinate the connection of utility service connections when required.  Coordinate with the IT Department and Voice Ops Department to insure timely completion of data and telephone systems.  Review of the Lighting, Electrical, MEP, and HVAC systems.  Coordination of building inspection walk-through with project architects, consultants, maintenance, and contractors.  Follow up to obtain all required permits.  Must be motivated and able to think “out of the box.”  Must be able to handle several projects simultaneously.  Willing to travel in the New York metro area, including north and south of the state.  Report directly to the Director of Construction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

·         Responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of all necessary construction docu­ments, assuring a consistent, legally-sufficient, and safe and cost-effective construction management process.

·         Schedule construction projects with instructions to ensure contractual compliance with plans, specifications, materials, schedules, workmanship, and safety standards.

·         Participates in negotiating claims and proposed change orders and associated cost, resolv­ing filed and contractual differences and processing scheduled progress payments.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, TRAINING, OR EXPERIENCE

 

·         Training or certification in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a closely-related field.

·         Certification and experience in the construction field.

·         Excellent technical skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Projects.

·         High level of communication skills a must.

·         Excellent math skills.

·         Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years project management experience.

·         Confidentiality a must.
