Whittier Filtration Inc. a Division of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (VWS) is currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to work in our Brea, CA office.
Whittier Filtration, Inc., a VWS Industrial Business Unit, specializes in water treatment filtration and separation systems for a variety of industrial processes. The Auto-Jet, Filtra-Matic, Autoflot, and Power Clean are some of our proprietary technologies installed in Gold and Silver Mining, Chemical Processing, and Oil & Gas plants.
We are looking for an experienced professional with a solid background in engineering fundamentals and the ability to commission, start-up and service complex, automated water treatment systems. A natural troubleshooter, the ideal candidate is not deterred by the severity or quantity of problems and is not affected by the tremendous pressure exerted by our clients, who expect trouble-free systems operation in a reasonable time period. An excellent communicator, often times this person is the only one in front of the client representing the company and must always be professional and know the right things to say. In addition, intradepartmental communication is equally important so that management in the home office can make the necessary judgment calls and improve on future project execution.
The following is required for this position:
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the commissioning of packaged process equipment, preferably for treatment of industrial water streams utilizing the principles of filtration, separation and ion exchange.
Candidates preferably will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
An innate ability to close out task lists, i.e. get things done.
Agree to sign confidentiality and non-compete agreements.
Thorough understanding of packaged process equipment utilizing pumps, valves, instrumentation and controls.
Problem solving thinking, ability to plan, multitask, organize, and manage time.
Intermediate level required in: Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint).

Responsibilities:
Review all plans, specifications, operating manuals, and other documentation pertaining to a specific treatment plant and formulate a commissioning and startup plan of action.
Respond quickly to service calls, which often will be mechanical or electrical in nature.
Know how to program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) from Allen Bradley, Modicon, and Siemens, and the ability to modify a PLC program created by someone else.
Market our field services to the client, including aftermarket sales.
Report complete onsite project status to management on a regular basis.
Train client's operator staff while in the field.
Willing to travel very frequently throughout the world.
Passport required.
Multi-lingual candidates will be at a huge advantage for this position.
